Above and Beyond

We believe health care is a human right, and we strive to raise global health awareness through community-based learning and mentorship.

Our Projects

Our main projects include the Global Water Challenge, LaBoom!, and Run for Haiti 5K. All of these projects benefit Haiti and help spread awareness and thoughtfulness about water access, usage, and rights.

Global Water Challenge

The Global Water Challenge gives Denver-based middle school students the opportunity to research and study water issues locally and globally. Students work in small groups to research their selected water issues, collaborate, and problem‐solve. Students use teacher‐led class time to explore their topics in greater depth, to prepare and perfect water-themed skits in preparation for competition day.

LaBoom!

LaBoom! is our annual dance benefit for Haiti. Featuring performances from Bella Diva Dance and food by Taste of Haiti & Soul Foods, all proceeds from the evening go toward the development of a new clinic in the area destroyed by Hurricane Mathew and to help fund our annual Global Water Challenge.

Tickets include: dinner catered by A Taste of Haiti, complimentary beer and wine, Afro-Caribe Dance demonstration and instruction provided by Bella Diva Dancers, and a Silent Auction.

Run for Haiti 5k

Our annual Run for Haiti 5K serves as a fundraiser for our initiatives locally and abroad, including our biannual Global Water Challenge and our maternity clinic in Leogane, Haiti. Held at the historic Auraria Campus, the family and pet-friendly run/walk is open to the public.

Explore Haiti

Join us on an eight day tour of Haiti where we will explore the culture, the health system, and the various opportunities for growth and development. The tour is led by Karen Failinger, one of our board members, who has been to Haiti over 40 times since 2011.

Email Karen directly for more information and to submit an application.

Volunteer with us!

Volunteers connect their energy and ideas with Denver and the world. We can use volunteers throughout our organization to spur change and encourage global activism.
